About The Position

The Optometrist conducts eye exams for Acuity Eyecare Group and practices to the full capacity of their license. The role supports practice growth by building patient relationships and educating patients about eye care. The Optometrist evaluates vision and ocular health, recommends appropriate care, and communicates treatment and lens recommendations to patients and support staff.

Requirements

Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

Conduct eye exams and perform vision tests, analyzing the results.
Establish long-term patient relationships through appropriate patient care and education.
Interview patients before examinations to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for the visit, and visual wants and needs.
Instruct, recommend, and advise patients about options for correcting refractive errors and addressing systemic or ocular disease and visual needs; recap the discussion when handing the patient off to support staff.
Build patient loyalty and promote optometry and Acuity Eyecare Group values.
Diagnose vision problems, including nearsightedness and farsightedness, and eye diseases.
Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation, as applicable to the brand.
Provide preoperative and postoperative care for patients undergoing eye surgery.
Evaluate patients for diseases such as diabetes and refer them to other healthcare providers within the appropriate time frame.
Counsel patients on eye health, including contact-lens cleaning and use and the frequency of eye examinations.
Clearly communicate appropriate lens recommendations to opticians and other sales staff, including recommendations for lenses with advanced coatings and designs.
