About The Position

HCA Solutions is seeking a qualified Optometrist for FCC Lexington. This is a full-time, W2, long-term placement position. The role provides optometry services commensurate with community standards, including examinations, diagnosis and treatment, prescribing, referrals, and clinical documentation. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, during daylight hours. Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch. There are no weekends, rotating shifts, or holidays.

Requirements

Doctor of Optometry degree from an educational program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) at the time the degree was obtained.
Current professional license permitting practice of Optometry in Kentucky.
CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

Provide routine refractions and eye examinations.
Perform fundoscopic and tonometry examinations.
Diagnose and treat AICs.
Prescribe appropriate medications as permitted by law and BOP policy.
Obtain signed refusals when AICs refuse care.
Prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses according to BOP policy and guidelines.
Place consults for follow-up appointments.
Refer noted eye pathologies to the onsite Primary Care Provider or Clinical Director.
Document clinical notes appropriately and complete clinical documentation onsite on the same day as examinations.
Provide adjustments to eyewear.
Use the Bureau’s Electronic Medical Record for all clinical documentation.
Immediately communicate with assigned staff when an AIC fails to show for the clinic.
Alert staff at the end of each clinic day about orders placed for contacts or glasses.
