About The Position

Clinica Sierra Vista is seeking a per diem Optometrist to provide comprehensive outpatient eye care for pediatric and adult patients. The role includes examining patients, diagnosing and treating ocular diseases and injuries within the scope of licensure, and educating patients about eye care. The Optometrist works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to address patients’ broader needs and maintain high standards of compassionate, ethical, and quality care.

Requirements

Must be licensed to practice optometry, as duties are performed to the full scope of licensure.
Solid working knowledge of ophthalmic equipment needed to conduct examinations.

Responsibilities

Provide outpatient care for pediatric and adult patients with eye-related disorders and conditions.
Take detailed medical histories, including current and past prescription medications.
Conduct procedures and diagnose and treat ocular disease within the full scope of licensure.
Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, low-vision aids, and vision therapy.
Consult with other healthcare practitioners to co-manage eye diseases and systemic conditions.
Document examination findings in electronic health records to meet audit and meaningful-use criteria.
Educate patients on proper eye care, including eye hygiene and safety.
Use ophthalmic equipment needed to conduct examinations.
Collaborate with primary care providers, clinical pharmacists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
Maintain accurate, current patient records in accordance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
Adhere to medical ethics and assure quality of care.
Participate in clinic Peer Review and Quality Assurance Programs.
