About The Position

We are seeking an Optometrist for a Locum Tenens position at an Outpatient Clinic (FQHC) in Dover-Foxcroft, ME. This is a clinical-only role covering general optometry services for all ages. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. The position is for an ongoing period starting April 20, 2026, with an expected patient volume of approximately 16 patients per day. The clinic utilizes the Athena EMR system and is equipped with standard optometry equipment. Support staff includes one Optometric Technician and one Optician. This coverage is needed to supplement existing staff.

Requirements

• Active state license preferred; willing to license
• National Board of Examiners in Optometry certification required
• Must be comfortable with independent charting

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive eye care services
• Diagnose and treat visual and ocular conditions
• Prescribe corrective lenses and medications
• Collaborate with clinic staff
• Maintain accurate documentation in Athena EMR
• Perform comprehensive eye exams
• Conduct vision testing and correction
• Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic medications
