About The Position

JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Optometrist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Dover-Foxcroft, ME
• Service Setting: Outpatient Clinic (FQHC)
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: April 20, 2026 – Ongoing (6 months)
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Tuesday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: All ages
• Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 16 patients per day
• Case Mix: General optometry including eye exams, diagnosis of vision issues, prescribing corrective lenses, and treatment of eye conditions

FACILITY INFORMATION
• EMR System: Athena
• Office Equipment Available: Standard optometry equipment
• Support Staff Available: 1 Optometric Technician, 1 Optician
• Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Credentialing Timeline: Minimal (FQHC)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Comprehensive eye exams
• Vision testing and correction
• Diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions
• Prescription of corrective lenses and therapeutic medications

Requirements

• Licenses: Active state license preferred; willing to license
• Board: National Board of Examiners in Optometry certification required
• Other Qualifications: Must be comfortable with independent charting

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive eye care services
• Diagnose and treat visual and ocular conditions
• Prescribe corrective lenses and medications
• Collaborate with clinic staff
• Maintain accurate documentation in Athena EMR
