About The Position

Shasta Cascade Health Centers is looking to welcome a dedicated and compassionate optometrist to launch and lead its first in-house eye care service offering in beautiful rural Northern California. With the only local optometrist retiring soon, patient demand is high, creating a rare opportunity to step into an established area and make an impact. Open to both recent graduates and experienced professionals, this full-time role offers the opportunity to build or expand hands-on experience in both clinical care and practice management from day one. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, SCHC offers a wide range of services, including primary care, dental, behavioral health, and specialty care, with a growing focus on full-scope optometry. Backed by a multidisciplinary team of diverse healthcare professionals and the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies, SCHC is committed to delivering patient centered care with dignity and respect. The optometry department is a new and exciting initiative, offering providers the opportunity to shape its development from the ground up as part of a mission-driven, community-focused organization.

Requirements

  • Optometry license in the state of California
  • Doctor of Optometry degree
  • Commitment to serving underserved populations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or interest in full-scope optometry and ocular disease management

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases
  • Prescribe corrective lenses
  • Co-manage surgical cases in collaboration with ophthalmology
  • Lead and expand the newly established Optometry Department, helping to shape its services and impact within the community
  • Take part in provider meetings
  • Support community outreach initiatives that align with SCHC’s mission
