Requirements
- Strong technical aptitude and reasoning skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and rapidly adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and navigate stairs and ladders
- High degree of manual dexterity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills—must be willing and able to operate in a collaborative and inclusive team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software
- Ability to work in presence of active laser amplifier head which create repetitive noise and flashlamp light at 5 Hz
- Shift flexibility is required (Morning and Evening shifts)
- Have an associate degree in optics or technology/engineering field and 1 year experience in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- Have availability to work first shift (6:00AM to 2:30PM) or second shift (1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
- Have experience with optical, mechanical, electrical systems
- Have experience with handling precision optical components or aligning laser systems
- Are proficient with reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
- Have technical writing experience
- Are self-motivated and attentive to detail
Responsibilities
- Assists in the assembly, alignment, and testing of optical and mechanical components used in devices such as lasers, imaging systems, and other optical instruments.
- Ensures the proper functioning and calibration of optical systems.
- May collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues, document procedures, and contribute to the overall manufacturing and quality control processes.
- Supporting the operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments
- Precision alignment of optical systems
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
- Performing preventative maintenance
- Supporting engineers in design and installation of new equipment
- Performing all the functions above according to defined procedures and in a manner that ensures the safety of equipment and personnel.
