About The Position

The primary function of this role is to assist patients with finding frames, adjustments, troubleshooting, and dispensing eyewear while providing the highest levels of quality and care. This role is responsible for attracting and retaining customers by delivering exceptional customer service, fostering customer retention, and promoting outstanding patient satisfaction. The Optician will greet and assist customers in frame selection, help with adjustments, troubleshooting, and dispensing eyewear. They will also ensure correct pricing and realistic delivery time quotes, contact patients for dispensing, and provide enthusiastic and concise communication. Additionally, the role involves cleaning and merchandising displays, assisting with insurance billing and order processing, and documenting patient communication in the practice software system. Special projects, cross-training, and other related duties may also be assigned.

Requirements

  • One to two years of experience in related field
  • Working knowledge of MS Office package
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective verbal communication skills to prioritize multiple tasks and to be available for incoming calls and inquiries
  • Effective written communication skills to clearly document customer situations, as well as prepare letters to confirm agreements made
  • Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills
  • Ability to ask appropriate and relevant questions to identify customer needs
  • Proven problem-solving, negotiating, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to use appropriate discretion and judgment in applying customer/call handling guidelines
  • Ability to listen, process transactions, and interact with customers simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Attract and retain customers by delivering exceptional customer service, fostering customer retention, and promoting outstanding patient satisfaction
  • Greet and assist customers in the selection of frames
  • Assist patients with adjustments, troubleshooting, and dispensing eyewear
  • Ensure correct pricing and realistic delivery time quotes to patients; contact patients to dispense glasses
  • Ability to provide enthusiastic and concise communication to meet and exceed patient expectations , as well as foster positive relationships with team members
  • Clean and merchandise displays daily; always display effective merchandise
  • Assist with insurance billing and processing orders
  • Document all patient communication in the patient record within the practice software system
  • Work on special projects, cross-train in different departments, and perform other related duties as assigned or requested
