Optical T&M Product Manager (PMK

YokogawaYCA_Home Office, Kentucky, KY

About The Position

Yokogawa, an award-winning leader in industrial automation, test and measurement, and information systems, is seeking an Optical Test & Measurement Product Manager (PMK). This role is crucial for the strategic and commercial success of Yokogawa’s optical product portfolio, which includes optical spectrum analyzers (OSA), reflectometers (OTDR/OFDR), wavelength measurement systems, and photonic test solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in optical communications, photonic integration, and high-speed interconnect technologies, with a keen focus on emerging applications in AI data centers, coherent optical systems, silicon photonics, and next-generation transceivers (800G–1.6T+). The PMK will spearhead regional product lifecycle management, product marketing, and commercial strategy. This involves translating evolving industry trends, such as co-packaged optics, optical frequency combs, DWDM expansion into O-band, and reliability testing for high-density optical systems, into concrete product strategies and go-to-market initiatives. Acting as a liaison between customers, R&D, and sales, this position ensures Yokogawa’s solutions effectively address next-generation challenges in power efficiency, reliability, scalability, and optical performance validation. Yokogawa is committed to shaping a better future by supporting the energy transition, biotechnology, AI, and industrial cybersecurity, aligning with the United Nations sustainable development goals. The company fosters a global culture of respect, value creation, collaboration, integrity, and gratitude, offering significant career growth opportunities.

  • Experience with Transceiver testing (400G/800G/1.6T+).
  • Experience with Silicon photonics, lasers, or optical components.
  • Familiarity with DWDM systems, coherent optics, optical interconnects, and optics research.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage both deep technical audiences (engineers, researchers) and commercial stakeholders (executives, procurement).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in engineering.
  • Experience engaging with standards bodies or industry consortia.
  • Exposure to OFC/Photonics West/CLEO/ECOC and similar conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise in optical communication ecosystems, including test & measurement technologies and workflows for optical R&D, validation, and production testing, data center interconnects, AI/ML clusters, hyperscale infrastructure, and transceiver technologies (800G, 1.6T, emerging 3.2T), and coherent vs. direct detect architectures.
  • Create and implement annual product business plans, defining actionable items and tracking progress.
  • Possess technical knowledge of products, articulate value propositions, key features, competitive positioning, target markets, and applications.
  • Develop high-impact marketing & sales content, including technical webinars (e.g., transceiver testing, CPO testing challenges, optical reliability), industry papers aligned with OFC/PW/ECOC/CLEO themes, and lead exhibition strategy with advanced DUTs.
  • Position Yokogawa as a leader in optical measurement accuracy, ease-of-use, and system-level solutions.
  • Collaborate with regional and global marketing teams to develop and launch product and industry-related promotional activities, including web content, hardware demos, brochures, advertising, promotional videos, webinars, press releases, exhibition support, and thought leadership, optimizing ROI for these activities.
