The company is seeking to hire an Optical Retail Sales Associate (also known as a Retail Optician) to assist patients in selecting eyewear, ensure accurate measurements and prescription information for lab technicians, and dispense completed glasses. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working in retail, customer service, or sales.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in the optical industry is preferred but not required.
- Willing to train.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings.
- Ensure lab technicians have accurate measurements and prescription information for lens grinding, coating, and fitting.
- Dispense completed glasses to patients.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, and policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges.
- Compute and process payment transactions/refunds using the Point of Sale system.
- Process insurance claims efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products.
- Create and maintain patient files, following company and HIPAA policies regarding confidentiality.
- Assess and interpret patient needs based on prescription, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation, and suggest appropriate products.
- Take necessary measurements, such as pupillary distance.
- Prepare work orders for the lab with all pertinent information.
- Pull correct lenses according to work order specifications.
- Inspect the final product for accuracy.
- Adjust completed glasses to fit the patient using pliers, hands, and heat if necessary.
- Adjust/repair damaged frames, replace nose pads, and missing screws.
- Price, stock, and straighten merchandise.
