The company is seeking to hire an Optical Retail Sales Associate (also known as a Retail Optician) to assist patients in selecting eyewear, ensure accurate measurements and prescription information for lab technicians, and dispense completed glasses. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working in retail, customer service, or sales.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the optical industry is preferred but not required.
  • Willing to train.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings.
  • Ensure lab technicians have accurate measurements and prescription information for lens grinding, coating, and fitting.
  • Dispense completed glasses to patients.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, and policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges.
  • Compute and process payment transactions/refunds using the Point of Sale system.
  • Process insurance claims efficiently.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products.
  • Create and maintain patient files, following company and HIPAA policies regarding confidentiality.
  • Assess and interpret patient needs based on prescription, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation, and suggest appropriate products.
  • Take necessary measurements, such as pupillary distance.
  • Prepare work orders for the lab with all pertinent information.
  • Pull correct lenses according to work order specifications.
  • Inspect the final product for accuracy.
  • Adjust completed glasses to fit the patient using pliers, hands, and heat if necessary.
  • Adjust/repair damaged frames, replace nose pads, and missing screws.
  • Price, stock, and straighten merchandise.
