About The Position

This role involves joining a team focused on implementing leading-edge technologies in optical manufacturing. The engineer will provide vision and leadership in developing strategic initiatives for emerging photonics needs, fostering an entrepreneurial culture, and leading equipment and facilities expansion. Key responsibilities include implementing process-capability monitoring and improvement, problem-solving, product/process characterization, efficiency improvements, and driving optimization for manufacturability, cycle time, and cost reductions. The role also requires working with design teams on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), negotiating product specifications, and solving production issues with optics and mechanical assemblies. Travel to other CACI locations or customer sites is required, up to 10%.

Requirements

Proven experience leading a team of highly skilled manufacturing and test engineers
Ability to guide team members through solving manufacturing and test-engineering issues
Proven ability to influence design-for-manufacturing changes
Understanding of high-volume electro-optical manufacturing and test concepts
Highly self-motivated with the ability to drive projects to completion
Strong oral and written presentation skills
Ability to lead as well as work independently in a team environment
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
Four-year engineering degree (BS) from an accredited college
Ability to work in the office full-time
Possess strong optical and mechanical background

Nice To Haves

In-depth knowledge of complex photonics manufacturing
Knowledge of production test set-ups and software-development techniques
Familiarity with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), risk management, and change-management processes
Hands-on experience with photonics manufacturing/test equipment and tooling design

Responsibilities

Implement leading-edge technologies

Work with design teams to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is incorporated into future products and supports successful manufacturing readiness review
Work with engineering to negotiate product specifications and print acceptance criteria
Travel to other CACI locations or customer sites as necessary (<10% travel)
Perform other duties as required
