About The Position

Warby Parker is seeking a skilled Optical Manager to join their in-house Optical team. This role involves creating exceptional customer experiences through professional expertise and product knowledge. The manager will act as a coach and team leader for the store's Opticians, while also directly assisting customers. The ideal candidate is a continuous learner, adaptable to challenges, fosters a positive work environment, and contributes to Warby Parker's growth.

Requirements

  • A licensed dispensing optician in states that require a license (or an ABO-certified optician in non-licensing states).
  • Minimum of 2 years in a management position.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, exhibiting model behavior, driving optical metrics, and adhering to strict optical standards.
  • Ability to operate with professionalism and open-mindedness in decision-making.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, capable of explaining technical terms to customers.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks for self and team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Not on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to meet all of their eyewear needs.
  • Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear with accuracy.
  • Ensure finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements.
  • Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers.
  • Manage a team of Opticians through feedback, development conversations, and leading by example.
  • Uphold exceptional service standards and implement retail experience programs to increase customer loyalty.
  • Report to the Store Leader, anticipating staffing needs and overseeing Optician Apprentice Program participants.
  • Stay updated on HR policies to promote a productive and safe culture, leveraging company resources for employee engagement.
  • Support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations.
