About The Position

Celgard is seeking an Optical Inspection Technician to join the Quality team in Concord, NC. This role is integral to manufacturing, focusing on both finished goods and the monitoring and control of upstream extrusion and lamination processes. The technician will be responsible for developing and maintaining quality test procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs), and troubleshooting guides for FSM Optical Systems. They will also train floor optical support technicians, provide advanced troubleshooting, perform routine maintenance and calibration of optical inspection systems, and create optical inspection settings for development film, including data analysis. Collaboration with Process Engineers on process monitoring improvement and periodic review of the optical inspection records database are also key responsibilities. The role involves performing quality investigations using archived data, interpreting results, and providing recommendations for solutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in configuration or programming or Associates of Applied Science in engineering or engineering technology, Electronics or IT preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience as an electrician or electronic technician with proven troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Experience using multimeters.
  • Experience reading schematics.
  • Experience writing training documents and operating procedures using Microsoft WORD required.
  • Experience analyzing data using pivot tables and charts using Microsoft EXCEL or equivalent required.
  • Visual Studio programming knowledge preferred.
  • 3+ years with optical inspection systems preferred.
  • Detail oriented in creating or verifying procedures to ensure no misinterpretation of same.
  • Ability to work individually.
  • Strong Writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates of Applied Science in engineering or engineering technology, Electronics or IT preferred.
  • Experience as an electrician or electronic technician with proven troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Visual Studio programming knowledge preferred.
  • 3+ years with optical inspection systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing quality tests procedures, SOPs and SOCs, and troubleshooting guides for FSM Optical Systems
  • Keep all FSM Department quality tests, SOPs & SOCs, troubleshooting guides updated
  • Conduct training of floor optical support technicians, including new support techs and new/changed procedures to current support techs
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting beyond the troubleshooting guide as necessary, which may require after hours support
  • Maintain optical inspection systems through routine maintenance, calibration, and alignment checks, and detection testing
  • Create optical inspection settings for development film. Data analysis will be required.
  • Collaborate with Process engineers on process monitoring improvement activities
  • Periodic review of the optical inspection records database to ensure proper data entry & make corrections as necessary
  • Perform quality investigations using archived optical inspection data. Interpret results and provide information for causes, and recommendations for solutions
