About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Optical Development and Manufacturing Technician to support the development and implementation of an in-house optics assembly and manufacturing line. This role will be responsible for assisting with equipment selection and setup, optical system assembly and rework, process development, quality assurance testing, and production support activities. The idea candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in optical manufacturing environments and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with optical assembly techniques, alignment processes, and precision manufacturing.
  • Experience working with metrology and optical testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and assembly documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to train and support cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing and development environment.
  • 10+ years of experience in magnified optics manufacturing required.
  • Defense industry experience required.
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification and reference checks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Materials Engineering or Optical Engineering preferred
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of an in-house optics assembly and manufacturing line.
  • Identify, source, order, and assemble manufacturing and testing equipment required for optical production.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best-practice work instructions for assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform precision assembly, alignment, troubleshooting, and rework of optical systems and components.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and testing to ensure product performance and compliance with specifications.
  • Perform product testing utilizing metrology and optical measurement equipment.
  • Package and prepare products for shipment while ensuring proper handling and protection of sensitive optical components.
  • Train and collaborate with personnel at multiple locations to establish and support scalable volume production lines.
  • Provide technical support and assistance for additional engineering and manufacturing projects as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to manufacturing processes, testing, and production activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and process optimization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
