About The Position

This position assists the work of WGCU’s documentary team, including the videographer and the senior producer, in the creation of long form video storytelling. This role has the potential to grow into creative duties related to storytelling, video editing, and videography responsibilities. Requirements

  • Experience or education in journalism, communications, or broadcasting.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and collaborate with a team.
  • Experience organizing or managing projects.
  • Ability to take direction from videographer and senior producer.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to perform basic Excel functions.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere.
  • Ability to work as a team member or work independently depending on assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in journalism or film and/or at least one year of experience working in a newsroom or broadcast environment.
  • Basic video editing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Research archival materials including finding and securing written and visual resources (current and archival) and permissions to use those resources.
  • Logging and organizing visual resources and creating a visual cue sheet for longer form projects.
  • Assisting videographer during filming and potentially record B-roll video to complement the chief videographer’s footage.
  • Provide logistical support, which may include talking to sources, confirming interviews, scouting locations, and data entry related to the documentary.
  • Assisting with video editing.
  • Downloading, organizing and assembling video files to support documentary projects.
