About The Position

Spire is seeking a Operations Utility Technician Inspection. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective installation and maintenance of natural gas mains and services for transmission and distribution systems in compliance with 49 CFR Part 192 and company policies. This role supports construction projects associated with natural gas systems and performs office and field record-keeping duties. The incumbent will utilize computer/electronic equipment for construction operations and assist with tasks such as field inspection, coordination of construction projects, pipe locating, basic CP checks, leak detection/classification, and soil classification.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of related work experience
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
  • Basic knowledge and use of construction tools and underground construction activities
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Basic PC knowledge in a Windows environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical processes.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company standards.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for record-keeping.
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork in various conditions.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation and maintenance of natural gas mains and services.
  • Support construction projects by performing field inspections and coordinating activities.

  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures during field and office activities.
