About The Position

Develop and execute an action plan outlining effort relating to outreach and community engagement activities including identifying specific relationships that will be nurtured, activities to be executed, goal, objectives, and timelines. Plans, manages, coordinates, participates and facilitates health promotion and public health education activities, including but not limited to parenting, car seat safety education, benefits of breastfeeding, safe sleep and interconceptual care. Designs and promote health education media materials, brochures and displays for health fairs, seminars, conferences, baby showers, electronic communication/newsletter, and other items. Provides health care information and serves as a resource to other community agencies and professional groups. Work with local schools and/or agencies with teen parent programs by providing health promotion and health education. Collaborates with other BBB team members on the development and delivery of health promotion and public health education services to the community. Assist BBB team members in creating and reviewing health promotion and education activities for participants. Documents all client encounters and contracts made. Maintains sign-in logs, surveys, and report statistical outcomes. Develops and maintains professional relationships with Safe Kids Coalition, Early Learning Coalition, Childbirth Educators, and other community agencies and organizations. Coordinates BBB education classes in English and Spanish. Acts as liaison between instructors, site points of contact, and care coordinators. Coordinate locations for classes, assists in the development of memorandum of agreements and publishes/update schedules for classes. Meets with instructors on a yearly basis and as needed to provide updates, service delivery guidance, and assistance. Reviews and compiles health promotion and public health education materials developed for use in training programs. Maintains health promotion and public health education library and teaching equipment. Performs a range of associated administrative functions, as appropriate, such as assisting with front desk phones, preparing client information packets, administrative and programmatic documents, reports, and correspondence, as required. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: community resources and social services programs available to pregnant mother and infants.
  • Knowledge of fetus, infant and child development.
  • Knowledge of: the principles and techniques of effective communication; principles and practices of health education; methods of data collection; basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Knowledge of WINDOWS, MS OUTLOOK, Internet Explorer, and Excel.
  • Skill in: operating a personal computer
  • Ability to: work independently and exercise good professional judgment.
  • Ability to coordinate a team approach to the rehabilitation process.

  • Requires daily in-office or field work. Are you willing to physically come in the office daily and perform field work.
  • Fluent in speaking Spanish and communicating both verbally and written in proper English.
  • Requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The Department of Health is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship.
