About The Position

The Chesterfield Health District (CHD) is seeking a Health Educator Senior to lead and coordinate health education and health promotion initiatives within the Population Health Department. This position provides strategic direction for community based health education efforts, oversees program implementation, and supervises Health Educators and related staff. The Health Educator Senior builds and maintains strong partnerships with community based organizations (CBOs), service providers, and residents to advance equitable health outcomes. Working collaboratively with community stakeholders, the Health Educator Senior, ensures that programs are culturally responsive, community informed, and aligned with public health best practices. The role focuses on strengthening trust; improving access to services; expanding community health knowledge, behaviors, and beliefs; and supporting individuals, families, and communities in achieving optimal health. In addition to programmatic duties, the Health Educator Senior provides leadership within the Population Health Department by supporting team development and fostering a culture of coaching and continuous improvement. This role models collaborative leadership, mentors staff in health education best practices, and promotes an environment where learning, reflection, and shared problem‑solving are core to daily work. The role contributes to shaping division‑wide approaches to equity and health promotion, ensuring that staff are supported, empowered, and equipped to deliver high‑quality, community‑centered public health services. The Health Educator Senior will work primarily at the Chesterfield Health Department, however regular travel within the health district is required. Typical work hours will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends. This is a restricted position which is solely funded by Federal CDC grant funds ending 09/30/2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually and periodically thereafter. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds. Requirements

  • Knowledge of public health principles; health education and health promotion theories; community health assessment; program planning and evaluation; policy and systems change; and community organizing
  • Skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating health education programs; conducting needs assessments; developing educational materials; public speaking; group facilitation; and writing reports and grants
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, solve problems, and make data informed decisions
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; build strong relationships with diverse community groups; and collaborate across sectors
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to information security policies

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations and apply culturally responsive practices
