About The Position

This position is located in the Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions and provides critical laboratory support for Dr. David Fuller’s research facility. Candidates interested in gaining research experience are encouraged to apply. The position will involve working with laboratory mice and/or rats, in studies of brain and spinal cord neuroplasticity and rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area or two years of relevant laboratory work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience working in a research laboratory
  • Experience with histology and microscopy
  • Experience with small animal surgery

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process biological tissue samples for research, including tissue sectioning, slide preparation, mounting, and specimen storage using established laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • Perform microscopy procedures to examine and evaluate tissue samples, documenting observations and assisting with data collection activities.
  • Conduct immunohistochemistry procedures by preparing tissue samples, following laboratory protocols, and utilizing antibodies and laboratory techniques to identify and analyze protein expression.
  • Assist with the collection, organization, and analysis of research data using computer software and spreadsheets to support laboratory studies and reporting activities.
  • Assist with laboratory animal care activities.
  • Order laboratory supplies.
  • Coordinate with University of Florida IACUC and EH&S offices to ensure laboratory compliance.
