This position involves receiving human blood specimens from statewide clinical sites and performing various processing tasks. Responsibilities include DNA extraction, serum isolation, and plasma isolation. Processed samples are logged into a database and stored for future use. The role also includes performing cell separations using magnetic or FACS sorting methods, preparing cells for nucleic acid isolation and sequencing. Isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells, followed by tissue culturing or cryopreservation, is another key duty. The position requires entry, input, quality control, and maintenance of HIPAA and IRB compliant databases, interfacing with UFDI STEPS data management. Inventory maintenance and ordering of reagents and supplies are also part of the role. Additional experimental procedures such as Genotyping, PCR, western blot, Elisa, ScRNAseq, and FACS may be performed. Other duties may be assigned by Managers and UFDI leadership.
