About The Position

This position is responsible for promoting good customer service by answering telephones promptly and courteously, greeting and assisting clients, and scheduling appointments. The clerk will receive, review, and update eligibility information and patient records, handle cashiering for various clinics, and ensure daily scanning and reporting of vouchers and remittance advice. The role also involves safeguarding cash receipts, billing for clinic services, serving as Deputy Registrar for Vital Statistics, processing record requests, and assisting with records management. Additionally, the clerk will check the treasury daily, maintain coding for credit card and EFT transactions, and perform related duties such as covering other front desks and participating in Quality Improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes good customer service by answering telephones promptly and courteously.
  • Greets and assists all clients seeking services at the County Health Department (CHD).
  • Schedules appointments for all clinics.
  • Receives, reviews and updates eligibility information and necessary paperwork/records for patients.
  • Cashiers for clinic, Vital Statistics and Environmental Health.
  • Assures vouchers and remittance advice are scanned and reported to Volusia County Health Department (VCHD) daily.
  • Ensures cash receipts and other instruments of value are appropriately safeguarded and all accountability and recording procedures are adhered to.
  • Reviews clinic services in HMS and bills accordingly.
  • Serves as Deputy Registrar and assures that all Florida Statutes and Administrative Codes pertaining to Vital Statistics are followed.
  • Ensures that the “doc sequence" is entered correctly for the E-vitals system.
  • Maintains and processes record requests under direction of Privacy Officer.
  • Assists Records Management Liaison Officer (RMLO) with records management and purging and destruction of records.
  • Checks the treasury daily and maintains coding for credit card transactions, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and daily deposit transactions.
  • Performs related work as required, to include covering for Madison front desk as needed.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
