About The Position

This is an intermediate level environmental specialist grants position. Utilizing knowledge of the Statutes and Regulations governing the Resilient Florida Program this position will: Assist the grant management staff for the Resilient Florida Program in the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection. Coordinate directly with other DEP staff, federal agencies, and local authorities to facilitate successful completion of grants and projects. Coordinate and report on status of projects through all phases including completion. Assist team leader with grants and projects assigned. Coordinate the review, approvals, and processing of administrative and technical aspects of assigned projects. This position will assist in the development and implementation of statewide measures to assist communities in completing vulnerability assessments and implementing adaptation projects. The position also coordinates with the other sections and program areas in the Department in pursuit of the overall mission. Must maintain a valid Driver's License. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
  • Skilled at planning, organizing, and coordinating work priorities and managing time efficiently.
  • Skilled in methods of collecting, compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Skilled in the use of current forms of electronic communication and data management software and equipment.
  • Skilled (high proficiency) in the use of current personal computers and applications, particularly the entire Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in typing reports and information into spreadsheets and electronic documents.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate positive and effective teamwork.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to assigned projects.
  • Ability to compile and review data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • At least four years of verifiable related experience is required. Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.
  • A valid driver's license.

  • Ability to complete and maintain Florida Certified Contract Manager Certification within 12 months of hire date.
