About The Position

This is a full-time Other Personal Services (OPS) position with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Plant Industry. The role involves general plant care, greenhouse maintenance, and public interaction.

Requirements

A high school diploma or its equivalent.
Possession of a valid Driver License.

Knowledge of basic plant cultivation.
Skill in working with hand and gardening tools.
Ability to work in a greenhouse environment.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and bend repetitiously.
Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and humid temperature environments.
Ability to walk on uneven ground and in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

General plant care which includes, but is not limited to, watering, pruning, sprouting, transplanting, irrigation, fertilizing, mixing and spraying pesticides, weed removal, leaf and debris pick-up, and pot washing.
Keeping greenhouse clear of weeds by periodic herbicide application.
Basic irrigation maintenance and repair.
Communicates and interacts with the public and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
