About The Position

Requires a high degree of skill and knowledge of ophthalmic practice and all sub-specialties. Possesses an excellent understanding of ocular pharmacology, knowledge of medications used in office and those prescribed to patients for treatment of ocular diseases. Provides intermediate to advanced diagnostic testing and imaging. Possess excellent critical thinking skills and excellent patient care. Ability to communicate with patients, co-workers and supervisor is critical.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience working as an ophthalmic assistant or ophthalmic technician within an Ophthalmology or Ophthalmic practice.
• JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for equipment maintenance and quality control.
• Responsible for training current and new technicians.
• Helps prepare technicians for certification tests: COA, COT and OCT-C
• Well versed in all Ophthalmic sub-specialties
• Required to assist physicians in all sub- specialties
• Possess a well understanding of the different specialty contact lenses offered across all ophthalmology practices
• Responsible for contact lens ordering
• Perform other duties assigned.
