About The Position

The Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible General Ophthalmologist to join an established practice within the Mayo Clinic Health System in Onalaska, Wisconsin. The practice features a collaborative team of five Ophthalmologists and five Optometrists, offering comprehensive services including optometry, general ophthalmology, cornea, and glaucoma care. This is a comprehensive general ophthalmology practice with the opportunity to manage a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. Surgical responsibilities will be tailored to the candidate’s training and comfort level, with an expectation to perform cataract surgery. Additional opportunities may include anterior segment procedures, ocular plastics, and adult strabismus surgeries, depending on the surgeon’s experience and interests. Comprehensive Ophthalmologists as well as subspecialty-trained Ophthalmologists (Pediatrics, Cornea, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Medical Retina, and Vitreoretinal Surgery) are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Board-eligible or board-certified Ophthalmologist
  • Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency program
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Wisconsin
  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty area preferred, including Pediatrics, Cornea, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics, Neurology, or Vitreoretinal Surgery

Responsibilities

  • Manage a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.
  • Perform cataract surgery.
  • Perform anterior segment procedures, ocular plastics, and adult strabismus surgeries (depending on experience and interests).
