About The Position

Sutter North Medical Group (SNMG) seeks to hire a BE/BC General Ophthalmologist to join our dynamic team in Yuba City, CA. This role involves conducting comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing and managing various eye conditions, performing surgical procedures, prescribing medications and corrective lenses, interpreting diagnostic tests, educating patients, maintaining patient records in an EMR system, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will stay current with advancements in ophthalmology through continuing education.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency program
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Active (or eligible for) CA state medical license

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., retina, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastic)
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams to assess vision and detect eye diseases or abnormalities
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy
  • Perform surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, laser treatments, and other ophthalmologic interventions (if applicable to subspecialty)
  • Prescribe medications and corrective lenses as needed
  • Interpret diagnostic testing results (e.g., OCT, visual fields, fundus photography)
  • Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and preventive measures
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Collaborate with optometrists, primary care providers, and other specialists for coordinated patient care
  • Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology through continuing education
