About The Position

Sutter North Medical Group (SNMG) seeks to hire a BE/BC General Ophthalmologist to join our dynamic team in Yuba City, CA. The Yuba Sutter region is a Northern California getaway for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the outdoors, locally grown food, rich history, diverse cultures, art, and so much more! The Yuba City Metropolitan Area has a lot to offer its diverse population of close to 200,000 residents. Its unique location maintains the atmosphere and friendliness of a family-focused community while being part of the larger Sacramento Region of 2.4 million residents. The area offers affordable quality living and easy access to outdoor activities, including hiking, boating, and fishing. Yuba City is 45 minutes from downtown Sacramento and about 35 minutes from the Sacramento International Airport. Centrally located, it is only 2 hours from the world-renowned ski resorts of Lake Tahoe or the beautiful Bay of San Francisco.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency program
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Active (or eligible for) CA state medical license
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., retina, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastic) preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams to assess vision and detect eye diseases or abnormalities
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy
  • Perform surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, laser treatments, and other ophthalmologic interventions (if applicable to subspecialty)
  • Prescribe medications and corrective lenses as needed
  • Interpret diagnostic testing results (e.g., OCT, visual fields, fundus photography)
  • Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and preventive measures
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Collaborate with optometrists, primary care providers, and other specialists for coordinated patient care
  • Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology through continuing education
