About The Position

AVP•SEES Group is seeking a clinically excellent cataract and anterior segment surgeon to join a medically focused, referral-driven ophthalmology practice. This role is designed for a surgeon who values high-quality outcomes, sound surgical judgment, and collaborative care, and who functions as a trusted partner to optometrists, colleagues, and the broader medical community. While fellowship training in cornea, glaucoma, or anterior segment is preferred, it is not required. The defining characteristic of this role is not subspecialty labeling, but clinical maturity, consistency, and professionalism in surgical and medical decision-making.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology.
Active Tennessee medical license, or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date.
DEA registration and unrestricted authority to prescribe medications.
Demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases and disorders.
Strong clinical and surgical judgment with a patient-centered approach to care.
Ability to collaborate effectively with optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
Frequent use of hands, fingers, and computer equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to [XX] pounds.
Annual compliance training is required.
Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and company policies is required.
Background screening may be required based on position.
Drug screening may be required based on position and location.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive anterior segment surgical care, including high-volume cataract surgery, MIGS and general anterior segment surgery including laser procedures.
Manage patients with coexisting ocular disease, including glaucoma and ocular surface disease.
Apply evidence-based surgical techniques with appropriate adoption of advancing technologies.
Maintain high standards of clinical excellence and surgical integrity.
Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, optometrists, and referring physicians.
Foster a culture of collaboration and mutual trust within a multidisciplinary team.
Support shared-care models where appropriate that prioritize patient outcomes and continuity.
Contribute positively to clinical quality initiatives and peer development.
Actively build and sustain a strong professional reputation through engagement with referring optometrists and medical providers.
Participate in professional meetings, education, and outreach activities.
Leadership or involvement in local, regional, or specialty organizations.
Speaking engagements, teaching, or mentorship when appropriate.
Serve as both a clinical leader and ambassador for collaborative, patient-centered eye care.
