About The Position

Locum tenens Ophthalmologist providing clinical-only outpatient care in Houghton, Michigan. Coverage is needed ASAP on an ongoing basis for supplemental coverage. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with two weeks on and two weeks off. The average daily volume is 20 patients, including four outpatient visits and 12–14 procedures. During the first week of each two-week rotation, the physician performs 12–14 surgical procedures per day. The facility has three exam rooms, two medical assistants, and uses Epic. Hospital privileges are required.

Requirements

• Board certified.
• Licensed in Michigan or eligible through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
• BLS certification.
• Hospital privileges are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient ophthalmology clinical care, including patient evaluations and follow-ups.
• Perform cataract surgeries and intravitreal injections.
• Maintain a high-volume clinic pace of at least four patients per hour.
• Perform 12–14 surgical procedures per day during the first week of each two-week rotation.
• Collaborate with supporting medical assistants and ensure an efficient workflow.
• Perform anterior segment procedures.
• Interpret ultrasound (A and B-scan), photos, fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography.
