About The Position

The Ophthalmology Group at MSK is looking for an Ophthalmic Technician to join their team. In this role, you will play an important part in supporting high-quality ophthalmic care and creating a positive experience for patients. This position involves performing specific technical ophthalmologic diagnostic procedures and tests under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or the attending ophthalmologist. Additional activities include carrying out tasks necessary to provide for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients and their families, maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment, and orienting patients and families to the clinical area.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 full year of recent experience supporting ophthalmic procedures
  • Excellent communication and Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Emotionally intelligent and enjoy working with a diverse patient population

Nice To Haves

  • COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific technical ophthalmologic diagnostic procedures and tests under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or the attending ophthalmologist.
  • Conduct tests including visual acuity, fundus photography, OCT scans, visual field testing, slit lamp photography, ultrasound and UBM scans.
  • Carry out additional activities necessary to provide for the personal needs, comfort and safety of patients and their families.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment.
  • Orient patients and families to the clinical area.
