About The Position

You’ll play a crucial role in the patient’s experience with CHN and in helping our doctors diagnose and treat eye disorders. This position is essential in providing excellent patient care service by focusing on each patient's individual needs.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree, which includes course work in a Bio-Medical Technician field, and three years of experience in the appropriate bio-medical technician field in an approved hospital or health facility; or
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent, and four years of experience in the appropriate bio-medical technical field in an approved hospital or health facility; or A satisfactory combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acquaints all new patients with office procedures to which they will be exposed.
  • Obtains patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and medical), family history (ocular and medical), and history of allergies and medications.
  • Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed, and how the patient will be affected during the tests.
  • Responsible for all the pre-exam elements of the patient visit.
  • Test and record patients far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
  • Perform accurate and consistent documentation and measurements utilizing an Auto lensometer, Autorefractor, Humphrey Visual fields, Fundus photography, ONH and Macula OCT, and Corneal Pachymetry.
  • Help maintain a smooth flow of patients, including communicating with the medical office support staff.
  • Provides telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills, scheduling appointments, and patient care questions.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the pretest and exam rooms.
  • Maintain operating integrity of office equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required.
