This role involves testing and measuring eye function to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and diseases. The successful candidate will perform various tests, including visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, color perception, and intraocular pressure measurements. They will also use equipment like a slit lamp and ultrasound to examine eyes and measure axial length. The position requires assisting with patient correspondence, including disability forms and consent forms.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practice preferred.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from a Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) approved institutional course preferred or working towards obtaining certification.
  • Preferable 5 + years experience in Retina Practice.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Handles all patient correspondence, including disability forms, patient education materials, and surgical consent forms.
  • Performs Slit Lamp Examinations.
  • Completes Medical History, Lensometry, Auto Refracting, Pam Testing, and Glare Testing.
  • Performs all aspects of visual acuity testing and Visual Field Testing.
