About The Position

Provides administrative and technical support to an ophthalmologist in a clinical setting. This role involves maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting with clinical procedures. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and at least two years of experience in a medical office setting. The salary range is $17.89 - $26.35 per hour.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Basic Life Support - American Red Cross certification.
  • Medical Office Setting (2 Years)
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient records and schedules appointments in IDX.
  • Answers phones, greets patients, verifies correct billing information and prepares chart for office visit.
  • Assists with the clinical work up of patients, including visual acuity, applanation pressures, history, keratometry, autorefraction, color vision, stereopsis and EYESYS.
  • Instructs patient in the proper care and insertion/removal of contact lenses.
  • Modifies and/or polishes contacts.
  • Maintains inventory of materials and cleans instruments.
  • Maintains examination rooms and supplies.
