About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of ophthalmic technician or ophthalmic assistant experience required
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical workflows, and patient care standards
  • Basic understanding of medical coding terminology and conventions
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy clinical setting
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist where needed

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient workups and ophthalmic testing
  • Accurately document examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans
  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations, procedures, and in-office laser treatments
  • Obtain and document patient medical histories
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment recommendations
  • Ensure patients understand physician instructions and follow-up care
  • Maintain efficient patient flow and communicate appointment status
  • Administer ophthalmic medications as directed
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic equipment
  • Triage patient phone calls according to clinical protocols
  • Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal
