About The Position

Ascension is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician for their Far West Clinic in Austin, TX. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The role involves clinical assistance and patient care, including executing specialized ophthalmic testing, visual screenings, and minor office procedures under physician supervision. Responsibilities also include patient education on contact lens care, dispensing corrective eyewear, optimizing clinic workflow by prepping examination rooms, maintaining sterilized instruments, managing medical inventory, verifying appointment schedules, recording medical histories, and processing clinical documentation.

Requirements

BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Cross accepted.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

Some travel is required to satellite clinics, once a week based on clinic need.
JCAHPO Certification preferred but not required.
MA, PCT are encouraged to apply, patient facing care preferred.

Responsibilities

Execute specialized ophthalmic testing, visual screenings, and minor office procedures under direct physician supervision.
Instruct patients on sanitary contact lens care while managing the accurate delivery and dispensing of corrective eyewear.
Optimize clinic workflow by prepping examination rooms, maintaining sterilized instruments, and managing medical inventory.
Streamline daily patient volume by verifying appointment schedules, recording medical histories, and processing clinical documentation.
