About The Position

The role of the scribe is to assist the physician with documentation of the patient's medical record. The scribe accompanies the physician into the exam room to transcribe the history and examination as given by the patient and the physician.

Requirements

• Must be able to transcribe the history and examination as given by the patient and the physician.
• Must be able to transcribe the impression and plan, results of tests, prescriptions, and orders.
• Must be able to document any procedures that may be performed by the physician or ophthalmic medical personnel.
• Must be able to transcribe any consultations or discussions with family members.
• Must be able to answer triage calls and enter patient data.
• Successful completion of background checks and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician with documentation of the patient's electronic medical record.
• Accompany the physician into the exam room to transcribe the history and examination as given by the patient and the physician.
• Under the direction of the physician, transcribe the impression and plan, results of tests, prescriptions, and orders.
• Document any procedures that may be performed by the physician or ophthalmic medical personnel.
• Transcribe any consultations or discussions with family members.
• Do not usually directly assist with patient care, but may do so as directed by the physician.
• May also be called upon to answer triage calls, enter patient data etc.
