About The Position

Join the UTHealth Department of Ophthalmology as a Full-Time Ophthalmic Imaging Technician and play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care to patients throughout the Houston community. In this hands-on position, you will perform a variety of advanced ophthalmic diagnostic imaging procedures, including visual field testing, optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photography, cataract surgery measurements, and ocular ultrasounds. Working alongside a team of dedicated ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals, you will help provide the critical diagnostic information needed to support accurate diagnoses, treatment planning, and outstanding patient outcomes in a dynamic and patient-centered clinical environment. Requirements

Working knowledge of the following: IOL Master or Lenstar, Corneal topography, OCT, Immersion ultrasound, B-scan, Visual Field.
COA - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant required
CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
1 year of related experience required
Completion of an accredited program in ophthalmology may substitute for the required experience.
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Nice To Haves

CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer; OCT-C (Optical Coherence Tomographer-Certified); CDOS (Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographer) or ROUB (Registered Ophthalmic Ultrasound Biometrist). preferred

Responsibilities

Coordinates patient scheduling for diagnostic photography and angiography of eye.
Maintains patient records.
Performs ophthalmic imaging, visual fields, topography, ultrasonography, keratometry and any other ophthalmic diagnostic test as designated by the ordering physician, uploading images to the Electronic Medical Record for review.
Reviews with ordering physician quality of work performed.
Prepares photographic material for Retina Conferences and ophthalmic photographic exhibits at meetings of ophthalmologist and/or ophthalmic photographer as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
