About The Position

The Department of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is currently seeking a full time Ophthalmic Echographer 3 to work in Palm Beach Gardens. The Ophthalmic Echographer 3 performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasonic (echographic) instrumentation.

Requirements

Associate degree in relevant field
ROUB (Registered Ophthalmic Ultrasound Biometrist) or CDOS (Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographer)
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Responsibilities

Performs all phases of ocular diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including keratometry, biometry, IOL master axial length measurements, contact B-scan, and standardized A-scan.
Generates echograms and gives preliminary verbal reports to referring physicians.
Registers patients in daily logs, prepares charts, and processes and sends accurate reports.
Recognizes proper insurance authorizations and gives meticulous attention to proper billing rules.
Assists with training of departmental staff and visiting technicians and ophthalmologists.
Assists with preparation of echograms for presentations.
Assists faculty, fellows, and residents with research projects.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
