About The Position

The Department of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is currently seeking a full time Ophthalmic Echographer 3 to work in Palm Beach Gardens. The Ophthalmic Echographer 3 performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasonic (echographic) instrumentation.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field
  • ROUB (Registered Ophthalmic Ultrasound Biometrist) or CDOS (Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographer)
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all phases of ocular diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including keratometry, biometry, IOL master axial length measurements, contact B-scan, and standardized A-scan.
  • Generates echograms and gives preliminary verbal reports to referring physicians.
  • Registers patients in daily logs, prepares charts, and processes and sends accurate reports.
  • Recognizes proper insurance authorizations and gives meticulous attention to proper billing rules.
  • Assists with training of departmental staff and visiting technicians and ophthalmologists.
  • Assists with preparation of echograms for presentations.
  • Assists faculty, fellows, and residents with research projects.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
