About The Position

The Ophthalmic Assistant provides direct patient care to patients in the Optometry or Ophthalmology departments and ensures the safety and comfort of patients and families in accordance with legal, organizational, and professional standards. OA I and OA II candidates may be considered based on years of experience and certification. The position offers direction, performance recognition, and development opportunities for other roles.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
At least 1 year of previous Medical Assistant or Optometric/Ophthalmic Assistant experience if not a graduate of an approved Medical/Ophthalmic Assistant program, or 6 months of experience and graduation from an approved Medical/Ophthalmic Assistant program.
CRT experience.
Ability to use equipment and related supplies for the selected patient population.

Nice To Haves

Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
Certified Ophthalmic Technician.
At least 2 years of previous work experience under an ophthalmologist.
The posting lists “1+ years and 6+ months of experience in ophthalmology” as a preferred qualification.
Ability to scribe and use a portable tonopen, Goldman VF, fundus photography, fluorescein angiogram, and immersion IOL.
Ability to use NCT, autorefractor, computer-related equipment, and lensometer, and perform K-readings.
Windows-based computer skills.
