About The Position

Assists healthcare providers in the ambulatory setting. Obtains patient past and present ocular and general medical history. Performs visual acuity and diagnostic testing under the supervision of physicians and techs. These tests include visual field testing, keratometry, pachymetry, and intraocular pressure checks. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other customers. Provides age-specific care to patients from toddlers through the elderly. Scribes for the Physician and provides other patient services and education as requested. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards, and abiding by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients.

Requirements

  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
  • Basic understanding of contact lens usage. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to work independently in a high stress environment. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships. (Required proficiency)
  • Use of general office equipment, including telephone, pager, and fax machines. Basic computer skills. (Required proficiency)
