About The Position

This individual is responsible for performing an extensive number of data collection functions, as delegated by the physician, to allow for proper, professional diagnosis of patients conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma
Two years minimum experience in an ophthalmic office
Basic computer knowledge/skills
Good time management
Strong organizational skills
Attention to detail
Self-discipline
Ability to work as a team member
Respectful treatment of patients and coworkers
Strong communication and professional skills
Empathetic personality giving attention to patient needs and concerns
Maintaining patient confidentiality
Excellent verbal and written skills

Responsibilities

Interacts with all patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by this practice.
Obtains patient history, to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general) and history of allergies and medications.
Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks, to include: Visual acuity, Lensometry, Confrontational visual fields, Motility, Pupillary function, OCT and Photography, Color plates, Applanation Tonometry, Pachymetry, Humphrey Visual Fields, Refraction.
Troubleshoots instrument repairs as necessary, Replaces bulbs, Checks connections, Reports continued problems to Lead Tech.
Returns patient phone calls and calls in prescriptions as necessary.
Escorts patients from the waiting room to exam/testing rooms.
Following testing, advises as to who will see them next.
Maintains a smooth flow of patients to the physician.
Escorts patients from the clinical area to the check-out desk.
Helps maintain stock levels and cleanliness of exam lanes.
Check for outdates of eye drops in exam lanes.
Performs other duties as required.
