This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period) position with 8/12-hour combo Day/Evening shifts. No weekends are required. The position is eligible for mileage reimbursement and has a 20-mile floating radius. The Eagan Clinic has two shift options: Shift 1: Monday through Thursday: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Shift 2: Monday through Thursday: 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM, Friday: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED
- 0 to 2 years of Ophthalmic experience
- 0 to 2 years Knowledge of complete eye exam tests and procedures
Responsibilities
- Performs patient preparation, assessment and eye exam
- Collects vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergies and chief complaint.
- Collects patient and family history and ocular history.
- Performs preliminary testing and basic exam.
- Documents in the electronic medical record.
- Opens and closes patient rooms.
- Provides patient contact lens insertion/removal training.
- Schedules surgery as well as peri-operative and post-operative visits.
- Conducts patient education including videos for surgical procedures.
- Answers and follows up on calls from patients and suppliers.
- Orders and maintains ophthalmic supplies, medications and diagnostic contact lens inventory.
- Cleans and sterilizes equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
