About The Position

This job opportunity is for a 2nd Shift Tankline Operator at the Baker City Plant. The role involves operating various machines, ensuring product quality and quantity, performing preventative maintenance, and working in a team environment. The operator will be responsible for loading and unloading materials, maintaining equipment, and adhering to all documented procedures and safety policies.

Requirements

  • Mechanical knowledge helpful to make adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Mathematical knowledge required to change machine between runs.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to pass a math test.
  • Must be able to understand drawings, diagrams, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift 50-70 pounds 80 percent of the time.
  • Willingness to rotate within the department.
  • Forklift License.
  • Computer Skills.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust material positioning in machines.
  • Ability to monitor and quickly and repeatedly adjust machine controls.
  • Good vision required for quality and safety.
  • Ability to quickly move hands and arms to grasp and manipulate materials.
  • Continuous gripping and grasping at all machines.
  • Trunk strength to support body continuously without fatiguing.
  • Ability to lift and position tanks on the turntable (tanks weigh 50-100 pounds approximately 70% of the time, and over 100 pounds as a team of two 30% of the time).
  • Ability to lift while twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, or crouching.
  • Ability to perform lifting from knee level to above the shoulder.
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects (Static Strength).
  • Ability to coordinate two or more limbs while standing, stooping, crouching, or bending (Multi-limb Coordination).
  • Ability to crouch in a deep knee bend for some tank assembly.
  • Ability to stand on cement for the entire shift.
  • Full range of motion required to safely perform job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Practice safe working habits and follow safety policy, procedures, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of product quality and ISO-9001:2015.
  • Operate bottoming machines, side-wall machine, spot welding, gluing, uncoiling, and making of bottoms.
  • Maintain a high level of skill on each machine operation to fill in for changing work demand and train new operators.
  • Practice, learn, and look for LEAN Improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all documented procedures and the employee handbook.
  • Be responsible for the quality and quantity of the finished product.
  • Foster and maintain a working team environment.
  • Perform routine Preventative Maintenance on associated equipment.
  • Load and unload spools of wire with a forklift.
  • Maintain drawing dies and tools.
  • Perform other tasks as needed/assigned by Team Leader.
  • Utilize basic operating skills of small machines.
