About The Position

This position is responsible for the safe operation of laser, press brake/turret machine, and various other tools to complete projects. The role involves creating quality and accurate cuts, bends, and folds according to blueprints, inspecting work for accuracy, and enforcing all safety rules and regulations. The operator will ensure equipment is properly set up and used safely, with all safety devices in use. They may also operate a forklift if required and certified, perform inspections on products, monitor equipment functionality, and request maintenance when needed. Basic maintenance and repair may also be required. Effective communication with supervisors and other production staff is essential for coordinating work schedules. Additionally, the role requires willingness to cross-train in other manufacturing plant areas and maintain accurate time and attendance records.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year experience operating laser, press brake/turret or other metal fabrication tools
  • Excellent knowledge of fabrication machinery, electrical equipment, and hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs
  • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to use tape measures and other measuring tools
  • Read and understand work orders and job schedules
  • Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, grip, squat and lift
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently, & lift 70 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Safe operation of laser, press brake/turret machine and various other tools used to complete project
  • Create quality and accurate cuts/bends/folds according to blueprints.
  • Inspect work for accuracy.
  • Follow and enforce all CDI safety rules and regulations
  • Ensure equipment is properly set-up & used in a safe manner & that all safety devices are in use.
  • Operate forklift, if required and certified.
  • Performs inspections on product before, during, and after the build following CDI’s standards.
  • Monitor functionality of equipment and tools and request maintenance when required.
  • Perform basic and preventative maintenance and repair as required.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors & other production staff to coordinate work schedules
  • Willingness to cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
  • Required to have proper and accurate entry into the time and attendance system.
