About The Position

Magnum Services, established in 2008, is a well cementing service company with a broad operational footprint in North America. We offer a unique blend of technical expertise and project execution excellence, providing primary and remedial (P&A) oilfield cementing services, downhole isolation technologies, soil stabilization, and fluid services. Our services are applicable across various industries including oil & gas, agriculture, construction, roads and infrastructure, laydown yards, and retention ponds. The Operator role reports to the Station Manager and is under the direction of the Supervisor. The primary responsibility is to safely operate and care for field equipment, perform shop maintenance, and support the operational business. This role works closely with Greenhands and Bulk Drivers and is considered safety-sensitive. The role encompasses two levels of seniority based on license type: Operator 1 (Class 3 or Class 5 / non-CDL) and Operator 2 (Class 1 / CDL A).

Requirements

  • Valid applicable driver’s license per above with a clean driver’s record.
  • Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, gripping, sitting/driving, walking, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Able to be on call 24 hours on 15 days on 6 days off rotational schedule, always remaining fit for duty (subject to change due to market conditions).
  • Able to work in congested or confined areas, and with exposure to loud noises and vibration.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
  • Minimum 1 year of driving experience.
  • For Operator 1’s, interest in getting a Class 1 (Canada) / class A CDL (U.S.) license and progressing in field operations.
  • For Operator 2’s, class 1 (Canada) / class A CDL (U.S.) driving experience on all types of roads.
  • Experience in oil and gas field operations.
  • Experience with rig in and rig out procedures, mixing and pumping, pressure tests, plug drops, wash ups, final inspections, and clean up.
  • Experience with equipment and components, including pumping equipment.
  • Maintenance knowledge, mechanically inclined, and can troubleshoot.
  • Strong understanding of driving regulations and required paperwork.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, reliable, and dependable.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change.
  • Understands the importance of safety.

Responsibilities

  • Drive well servicing equipment without a trailer (pup unit) to and from well sites, as required (Operator 1).
  • Work with Station Management to obtain a class 1 (Canada) / CDL (U.S.) license with company support, when ready (Operator 1).
  • Drive well servicing equipment with a trailer (pup unit) to and from well sites, as required (Operator 2).
  • Mentor Operator 1’s in obtaining their class 1 (Canada) / CDL (U.S.) license (Operator 2).
  • Maintain, prepare, and operate a pumper for each job.
  • Operate the pumper to perform proper on-site rig in (assemble) and rig out (disassemble) procedures, mixing, pumping, pressure tests, plug drops, wash ups, final inspections, and assist with location clean up.
  • Develop and apply an understanding of all gauges in the operator panel.
  • Monitor pump pressure, rates, densities, and volume during pumping performance; observe and report if anyone is needed in the hot zone.
  • Inspect and perform function tests before equipment leaves yard, ensuring all components are in working order.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on equipment maintenance and repairs (i.e. 300-hour maintenance, greasing unit and iron treating) and submit paperwork before shift end.
  • Perform shop maintenance on field equipment when required, including pumper spring maintenance and fluid end inspections.
  • Rebuild Chiksans and Neutron valves.
  • Assist the Supervisor in job preparations and incident reporting.
  • Adhere to and enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with HSE legislation.
  • Develop and maintain strong external/internal client relationships in support of company values and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain procedures to ensure high level of service.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other general duties as required.
