Ethicon San Lorenzo is seeking a highly motivated Operator Trainer to support manufacturing operations while playing a key role in employee development, process excellence, and product quality. This position combines hands-on manufacturing responsibilities with training and certification leadership to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; college studies preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct medical device manufacturing experience.
  • Certified in at least three (3) manufacturing processes or qualified in three functional manufacturing areas that do not require certification.
  • Availability to work overtime, multiple shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and/or 12-hour shifts), including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience using Microsoft Windows, MES, HMI, Matrix One, and related systems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of chart interpretation preferred for Hemostasis operations.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Experience using calibrated equipment such as scales, templates, rulers, and metal detectors.
  • For Hemostasis operations, knowledge of Environmental Controls and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manufacturing operations in accordance with established specifications, GMP/QSR regulations, safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Operate manufacturing equipment, perform machine setups, configuration changes, and basic preventive maintenance activities as needed.
  • Verify batch components and ensure materials are available and accurately identified before production activities.
  • Assemble products according to approved manufacturing specifications and procedures.
  • Conduct product quality inspections and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Complete manufacturing documentation and production records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform batch reconciliation and support material transfers to designated production areas.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to prevent product contamination and material mix-ups.
  • Support Certified Operator Programs and ensure products are inspected and dispositioned according to Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report safety concerns, quality issues, material shortages, defects, batch discrepancies, or any condition that may impact product quality or operational performance.
  • Train and coach newly hired associates following approved training curricula, ensuring successful qualification and compliance with quality expectations.
  • Support manufacturing teams with training related to specification updates, process changes, and new procedures.
  • Monitor employee training records through electronic learning management systems and ensure certifications remain current.
  • Coordinate and administer the Operator Certification Program for supported manufacturing areas.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement events and support implementation of operational excellence initiatives, including EthIdeas programs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to become qualified in multiple manufacturing processes and support training activities across different shifts as business needs require.
  • For Hemostasis operations, support material handling activities and shipment execution when required.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and occupational regulations, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements.
  • Communicate business-related concerns, opportunities, and operational improvements to management.
