Operator Trainee
About The Position
Sunflower Electric Power Corporation is seeking Operator Trainees at Holcomb Station, a coal-fired 350-megawatt power plant. Working as part of a team, trainees learn to operate plant equipment and systems by attending 12 weeks of generation power plant training classes. After successfully completing the classes, trainees progress through an on-the-job operator trainee program toward higher-level operations positions with increased responsibility and compensation. The role offers opportunities to gain electric utility experience, develop troubleshooting skills with experienced crews, learn about a technically advanced coal-fired power plant, and help provide reliable, affordable energy to people in central and western Kansas.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, including holidays and weekends, when assigned to an operations crew.
Nice To Haves
- Technical school education or related industrial experience preferred.
