Operator Trainee
About The Position
Sunflower Electric Power Corporation is seeking Operator Trainees at Holcomb Station, a coal-fired 350-megawatt power plant. In a team setting, trainees learn to operate plant equipment and systems by attending 12 weeks of generation power plant training classes. After successfully completing the classes, trainees progress through an on-the-job operator trainee program toward higher-level operations positions with increased responsibility and compensation. The role offers experience in an electric utility, opportunities to learn from experienced crews, and the chance to contribute to reliable, affordable energy for central and western Kansas.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, including holidays and weekends, when assigned to an operations crew.
Nice To Haves
- Technical school education or related industrial experience preferred.
Responsibilities
