About The Position

Under the supervision of the Area Manager, the Operator is responsible for the proper training and safe, timely, and efficient operation of the Presses. This role involves maintaining a clean work area, producing quality parts that meet customer requirements, performing set-up functions, and participating in process improvement teams. The operator must follow instruction sheets, adhere to safety regulations, report any safety concerns or mishits, and accurately complete all required paperwork. They are also responsible for ensuring last piece samples are submitted, containers are clean, standard packs are used correctly, and new associates are trained as directed. Additionally, the operator will study SPC charts to identify process problems and follow the 'first-in, first-out' system for raw materials. Other essential functions may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Must have experience as a production associate.
  • Must watch all Press Operator training video series and pass Press Operators Training Class.
  • Must also have die set training.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps work area clean, neat, orderly, and possess good housekeeping techniques.
  • Produces quality parts, which meet all customer requirements.
  • Performs all set up functions as required.
  • Involved in process improvement teams working with prog parts.
  • Follows the operator instruction sheets as specified, unless otherwise instructed by a supervisor.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Reports all mishits to supervisor.
  • Notifies the supervisor at the half way point of the last coil of the run so that a last piece inspection is performed before the coil is run out.
  • Completes all paperwork accurately. This includes tags, uptime reports, set up checks lists, production reports, etc.
  • Ensures that last piece samples have been submitted before starting to die set the next order.
  • Ensures that all containers are clean of old tags, cardboard, and other parts before they are used.
  • Verifies the proper use of standard packs when they are set up for work orders.
  • Trains new associates to run the progs as directed by supervisor.
  • Studies the SPC charts to help identify process problems.
  • Follows the "first-in, first-out" system of using raw materials.
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned.
