About The Position

Gildan is a leading manufacturer of everyday basic apparel, with a strong portfolio of brands. This opportunity is based in our Yarns Division. The role requires an individual to operate forklifts or squeeze lifts, perform daily inspections, and maintain cleanliness of equipment. Responsibilities include aligning laydowns, opening and cleaning bales of cotton, and ensuring the work area is clean. Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to follow instructions, reliability, & willingness to work with a team.
Exceptional attendance and work ethic
Ability to stand/walk at a steady pace for up to 12-hour shifts.
Good hand & eye coordination and hand dexterity (hand strength to cut wires)
Reach/Bend, including reaching overhead to heights of 6 ft from the floor.
Ability to push/pull up to (50) lbs.
Ability to work in cotton dust environment with temperatures of 85° - 87° degrees Fahrenheit
Ability to work in cotton dust environment

Responsibilities

Complete a daily inspection sheet at the beginning of each shift for forklifts or squeeze lifts.
Blow off each lift weekly.
Plug each lift into a charging station when not in use or when the operator is at break.
Operate a forklift and/or squeeze lift as a Gildan certified licensed lift truck operator.
Bring in bales of cotton for each laydown.
Align laydown in numerical order to blend properly according to laydown sheets.
Open and clean bales of cotton, ensuring they are free of dirt, grease, wood, bagging, or any other foreign matter.
Cut wrap with a vertical cut making two horizontal cuts, one at the top and one at the bottom of each bale.
Continue to watch for contamination.
Place all bale wire ties in the designated metal dumpster.
Take burlap, plastic, and/or polypropylene to proper areas for baling and/or disposal immediately after opening laydown.
Sweep laydown area before and after laydown is completed.
