About The Position

This position is located on-site in our Bayou La Batre shipyard. The Operator/Material Handling role requires fundamental knowledge of rigging, equipment operator functions, and qualifications. The employee will be responsible for operating and maintaining various heavy equipment, providing rigging guidance and inspections, and ensuring all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. This role involves adherence to schedules and deadlines, daily equipment inspections, and collaboration with engineering and production personnel on heavy lift plans.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in equipment operations.
Must have a valid State-issued Driver’s License.
Fundamental knowledge of rigging, Equipment Operator functions and qualifications.
Must be able to follow schedules and deadlines.
Must be able to work safely and promote a safety conscience culture, understand standard flagging hand signals.
Employee insures only qualified personnel operate equipment.
Ensures equipment is inspected Daily before operation.

Nice To Haves

Class A CDL desirable.
National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain forklifts, Rough Terrain Cranes, Crawler Cranes, OTR trucks and trailers, and Marine Travel lift.
Provide rigging guidance and inspections.
Inspect rigging straps, wire ropes, and chains before use.
Periodically lubricate equipment.
Work safely and promote a safety-conscious culture.
Understand standard flagging hand signals.
Ensure only qualified personnel operate equipment.
Review heavy lift plans with engineering and production personnel.
Read and comprehend equipment load charts and operating guidelines.
Ensure equipment is inspected daily before operation.
Inspect rental equipment at delivery and prepare for return to the rental agency.
